Found a better way to compare vim keystrokes (less is more) which will allow the execution of macros in the submission, here it is with an example:

echo "map v 1GO<HTML>^M<HEAD>^M</HEAD>^M<BODY>^M^[Go</BODY>^V^[" |  vim -s <(printf 'qqdt<f>[email protected]:wq! foo\n') - && cat foo

At the end you see the result which in this case is:

<HTML><HEAD></HEAD><BODY></BODY>
